Join Sustainably Blue

The fundamental reason behind Sustainably Blue Malta is to galvanise opinions, bring people together and find out insights and ways to progress a more united front regarding sustainability, and particularly on the construction sector front. Our aim is to unite various factions whatever their views, from architects to engineers, from the planners to developers.

Benefit for the future
We need to learnt to cooperate as a united front in order to be effective. We need to bring together all people who are interested in creating a more sustainably minded and holistic outlook for the future, not just in the short term - all too common - but for the long view.

There are new urgencies that make this imperative. Whilst climate change is the new ‘bogeyman’ it is also very real. As the Establishment agencies including World Bank, insurance agencies and related businesses wake up to the associated costs with climate change which brings new challenges, it will be of far less cost to plan and mitigate future change than to simply try to patch up with adaptation strategies and short term funding.

The construction sector is one where we can made so much difference, if we begin planning now in a cohesive manner.

What’s your view on a Malta Green Building Standard?

By centralising, integrating and disseminating the various strands of Govt and EU policies, and linking to an established international and world recognised Green Building Standard (LEED), a Malta Green Building Council can provide those linked to the industry a neutral platform to network, pool views and experience across the sectors. See here for presentation download.

An academic viewpoint?

There is so much valuable research being done but so much more to be commissioned regarding the sustainability of buildings, the built environment as a whole and on a more holistic approach.

It would be valuable to pool resources, and information, to pull together the varying projects and activities, whether from funding or governmental. Strength lies in teamwork power in information consolidate from different sources. If yo are from the educational sector then we would like to hear your views on any content on this platform.
